The Home Service Military Heritage Society has been successful in attracting a Lottery grant of £10,000 from the Northern Ireland Awards for All Scheme. This will support the Society's work in initiating its two main projects.

The objective of both these projects is to tell the story of service in the Regiment through the words of our ex-service personnel and their families

The first project is an Oral History Project, which is recording, in video and audio format, the thirty seven year history of the Regiment through the stories, memories and experiences of our ex-service personnel combined with video footage of many of the events that marked the history of Northern Ireland and the lives of those who served to bring peace to the Province. The project is making use of professional video and recording resources to produce a comprehensive archive that will be available to researchers and historians in the future. The material will also be used to tell the story as part of presentations and public displays. Since the start of 2009, interviews have been carried out with ex-service personnel and families in the Fermanagh area and to date 33 interviews have been completed.

The objective of the second project, which has the working title "The Story of the Fallen Soldier" is to produce a written memorial to the men and women who gave their lives in the service of our Regiment and to describe the impact their loss had on the lives of their families. While this project is at an early stage, it is a story that has to be told. Your support is therefore needed to make this happen.

The Society needs to raise substantial funding to enable both projects to proceed. To date the Oral History Project has cost £1,000 per 5 video interviews.
